What school did you go to? Did you enjoy it?
I went to St Joseph's College, Ballinasloe in Co. Galway. It was alright.
How did you do at school?
I was kind of average, I was lazy. I did enough to get by. I wasn't interested in
doing any more than that.
What has happened since school and
before R.T.E.?
When I left school, I went to journalism school at D.I.T. I did a journalist course
and after that I became a Journalist. I also went to England to work.
Who is/was your favourite
interviewee?
Arnold Schwarzenegger!
Did you interview him?
Yeah, for all of 30 secs. [Laughs]
What was he like?
He was a big meaty guy; I asked him what his favourite Irish food was? He said it
was his mother's apple strudle in Austria.
Who was your most difficult
interviewee?
Ah...... Ronny Drew - because he was a cranky old bollocks. He was on Gondolas once
and he started saying, "This is the lowest common denominator - bloody Jesus- what am
I doing on this show?" (In a Ronny Drew voice). This is a guy who wrote "Seven
Drunken Nights" as his biggest hit.
